One major difference from the original Far Cry Series will be that Far Cry 2 will move the series from the tropical island of the original title to an unnamed African territory with an expansive savanna and jungles to explore.

Is THQ planning a HomeWorld 3 ??

Recently, some fans went digging for information over at fan site Relic News. And guess what they uncovered! They’ve found that THQ, who now own original Homeworld developers Relic, have picked up the rights to the series from former owners Vivendi (ie Sierra).

homeworld2-003

This isn’t confirmation that any new Homeworld titles are in the making, of course, but then they’d hardly go to all the trouble of getting the rights if they weren’t going to something with them.

Im a HuGE fan of the series, and would totally love to play a new sequel to the original game. Lets hope that news for Homeworld 3 is announced very soon :D

Dubai planning for the worlds largest Arch Bridge

They do things differently in Dubai. They like their stuff bigger, taller, and more expensive than anywhere else. So it only makes sense that construction of the world’s tallest arch bridge begins next month.

The bridge will peak at 670 feet, have 12 lanes of traffic, and handle up to 2,000 vehicles per hour.

Scheduled completion is slated for 2012, after $817 million in construction.

This just in: NEED FOR SPEED, one of the fantastic racing titles for EA Sports, will return this year in 2008, after a very dismal performance with their title NFS:Pro Street, with open world racing, cop chases and similar features, along with a new Highway battle Mode.

PS2 Selling for $99 !

Technorati Tags:

ps2

Starting February 24, Target stores across the US will be selling slim PS2s for $99. Yes, that magical, mythical $99 price-point. The advertisement specifically mentions that this is part of a sale, but with

support for the console dying off and the PS3 picking up steam, is now the time for Sony to give their ageing warhorse one last kick in the pants and adopt this price across the board?

Nvidia 9600GT Benchmarks & Specs

The newly revealed Nvidia 9600GT card that was previously mentioned here has been benchmarked by Tomshardware, the premiere site for graphic card benchmarks. And L33tzone is proud to present the summary of the results for its readers.

g94a.jpg

The 9600GT Is it just another version of the G92 – the same graphics processor all the GeForce cards such as GeForce 8800 GT 256 MB, 8800 GT 512 MB, 8800 GT 1 GB, 8800 GTS 512 MB,are based upon, however, the essential difference is that the G94 only has half the number of stream processors of the G92: 64. This pales in comparison to the 112 a “simple” GeForce 8800 GT 256 MB boasted, you’re thinking. That’s not untrue, but the shader frequency is higher (compared to the 8800 GT only, since the G92 on the 8800 GTS uses the same frequency), attaining 1625 MHz for these units (650 MHz for the rest of the GPU). But even at that frequency, the raw processing power of this G94 is still a full 38% lower than that of the 8800 GT.

the G94 has only 505 million transistors, or 33% fewer than the G92, and it has a surface area we measured at 225 mm2, or 31% smaller, despite the same engraving depth (65 nm). That value is still 15% higher than on the RV670 used in the AMD 3D graphics cards it directly targets.

Please Note: Following link has benchmark results in the form of pictures. Please Wait while they download.

Deactivating Hibernation in Vista

If you have a large amount of system memory installed, it is definitely worth your while to take a closer look at Windows’ Hibernate feature. The hiberfil.sys file, to which the entire content of the system memory is copied when hibernation is activated, is always just as large as the physical memory. In other words, if your system is equipped with 8 GB of RAM, you’re wasting the same amount on your hard drive if you never use this feature.

Additionally, with computers nowadays coming equipped with more and more memory, the usefulness of the hibernation feature is increasingly being called into question. After all, it takes more time to write 8 GB of data to the hard drive when the system shuts down and then read it back when it starts up again than simply restarting Windows. Of course, the time the whole process takes depends on the amount of memory in use by the system. If only 1 GB is in actual use, only these files are written to disk. (more…)

Robotic Gas-Stations: Automation on a new level!

Robots are rapidly changing our daily lives for the betterment of humanity, replacing human intervention in places where lives matter most. This effort by a Dutch company only strengthens the above claim, where a Robotic Arm will fill up the gas tank while you wait insiderear.jpg

Currently priced at 75,000 euro ($111,100), the car-fuelling robot comes equipped with a large database that contains details about the position and designs of the fuel caps in a variety of different models, and using multiple sensors, extends from a regular gas pump, carefully opens the car’s flap, unscrews the cap, picks up the fuel nozzle and directs it towards the tank opening, much as a human arm would, and as efficiently too.
