Happy Birthday LEGO: Lego Turns 50!

Yes 50! My favourite pasttime, and the thing that actually made me find the Engineer in me 😉 has turned 50 today ! The creation of The Lego Group, a privately held company from Denmark, Lego has transformed the world with its innovative block by block building technique, that has a highly effective method of improving kids learning and creativity, by creating anything that they can dream up of in their imagination !

The LEGO history began in 1932 in Denmark, when Ole Kirk Christansen founded a small factory for wooden toys in the unknown town of Billund in the south of the country. To find a name for his company he organized a competition among his employees. As fate would have it however, he himself came up with the best name: LEGO – a fusion of the Danish words “LEg” and “GOdt” (“play well”).
There are 2,400 different LEGO brick shapes in all shapes and sizes. The LEGO Group with its headquarters in Billund, Denmark, is the fifth largest toy manufacturer in the world in terms of sales.

I simply love Lego , and ive got a decent collection too 🙂 given that they arnt availabl

e in Pakistan, i am pretty proud at what ive got 😀 Heck i wud stull make stuff with it, if i had the time, an upgrade my collection too, if they were available. But still, Lego will always have a special place to me and id still buy it 😀

Oh, and Btw, i got to know this because Google was the first ot celebrate this! Check out what google is showing at their main site!

I wish LEGO, Many Many Happy Returns of the Day! And hope they spread more joy and happiness to all around the world!
